At Black Hills Web Works, we build, host, and maintain websites powered by Joomla and WordPress Content Management Systems. We’re located in Spearfish, South Dakota, in the northern Black Hills, and we’ve been in business since the early days of 2009.

Our mission, as we see it, is to provide complete website solutions that work for businesses, nonprofit organizations, and individuals.  Complete website solutions include building or remodeling websites, providing managed hosting, and maintaining websites.

We build websites

Building websites is at the core of what we do, and everything else flows out of that. Our websites are primarily built using either Joomla! or WordPress, both of which are open-source Content Management System (CMS) software. One powerful advantage to using a CMS is that once a website is built and deployed to the World Wide Web its content (text, pictures, etc.) can be modified or updated by the owner of the website.

We remodel websites

Is your website a few years old? Technology keeps changing at an incredible rate, and websites should be updated accordingly to keep pace with the rest of the World Wide Web.

Perhaps you have an existing static website that you would like to convert to an updated, dynamic website built with a user-friendly Content Management System. Unfortunately there is no “magic button” that will convert a static website to a dynamic CMS, but having an existing website can make the process smoother, especially if you plan to use some or most of the same content in the new website.

Or maybe it’s simply time to change the look and feel of your website.

When you contract with us to build a website you’re essentially buying time – the time it takes us to design, develop, debug and deploy your website. Every website differs in size, complexity and features, and the time requirements for building websites varies accordingly. We prefer to work with fixed-price contracts, and unless something changes in the design of the website during the build process, the price for the finished website is the original contract price. However, there are special circumstances when billing by the hour makes more sense, and our current hourly rate would then apply with invoicing on a predetermined schedule.
